While Jeff Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sanchez, may be relishing having achieved a major parenting landmark, it also seems to have left her with a burdened heart. The renowned philanthropist recently took to social media to pen a heartfelt message about the latest development in her life, sharing a bittersweet note that revolved around her son.
Lauren Sanchez is ‘heartbroken’ for this reason
On Monday, August 11, The Fly Who Flew to Space’s author announced that she had dropped her 18-year-old son, Evan Whitesell, off at his college.
In order to commemorate the occasion, Lauren Sanchez wrote an earnest message for her son on her Instagram stories. “Dropped off Evan at college today. 18 years of early mornings, late night snacks and family dinners…. and then there he was building his own dorm cabinet,” she noted, while also including an image of him constructing what appeared to be a furniture piece in his dorm room at the University of Miami.
Sanchez concluded her account by doubling down on how the moment made her feel, writing, “A small thing but in that moment I saw the start of his next chapter. Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful,” followed by a white heart emoji. (via People)
The award-winning journalist had already confirmed the news about Evan’s induction into the University of Miami in December 2024, once again, via her Instagram stories. Jeff Bezos’ wife posted a logo of the esteemed university to share the said update with the world, along with the word “business,” suggesting that Evan could be taking up a course at Miami’s Herbert Business School. She also included the message, “My heart is bursting. Beyond proud of you,” in her December 2024 story.
Lauren Sanchez has three kids, sharing Evan and her 17-year-old daughter Ella with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell. Additionally, she co-parents her eldest child, 24-year-old Nikko Gonzalez, with her former partner and NFL Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez. The former Fox 11 News at Ten anchor recently tied the knot for the second time, becoming Jeff Bezos’ wife following a multi-day event in Venice.
