A source close to the couple confirmed to PEOPLE that Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade Giannulli recently decided to break up. The two had been reportedly dating since late 2021 but had a history of breakups and patch-ups.
The couple’s dating rumors started in late 2021, just a month after Elordi’s breakup with Kaia Gerber. They were spotted grabbing coffee together in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood. However, their status remained unclear at the time, with several outlet sources giving mixed signals as some claimed they were casually dating, while others denied a relationship altogether.
By August 2022, reports suggested the couple had split. But just under a year later, in June 2023, Elordi and Giannulli were seen vacationing together in Italy, followed by a cozy family hangout in Idaho with Giannulli’s parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli. That July, PEOPLE confirmed they were back together, and the outlet’s insiders noted that the relationship had become “serious.”
Despite appearing strong as recently as January 2024, the couple has now reportedly gone their separate ways. The breakup news comes as Giannulli has been focusing on her life in Paris, calling it a “formative” period in a recent YouTube vlog.
Meanwhile, Elordi is focused on his acting career. As he is preparing to star as Frankenstein’s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated reimagining of the horror classic. The film, starring Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, is set to be a fresh take on Mary Shelley’s classic tale.
