Rumors and reports have fueled speculation about Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast. Fresh reports claim Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will appear in the film, especially after the actor recently posted a cryptic tease for it. This would add another major character to Marvel’s expanding ensemble. But there’s certainly a doubt about his involvement, as one report suggests otherwise.
Is Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday or not?
Despite mixed reports about the involvement of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday, it seems he will still appear in the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision newsletter, Deadpool will feature in Avengers: Doomsday, though the report added, “Don’t expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team.” It seems that his role would maintain Deadpool’s traditional chaotic style rather than integrating him as a formal member of the team.
Then on August 16, insider @MyTimeToShineHello stated on X, “I have confirmed that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool IS in Avengers Doomsday,” further corroborating Heat Vision’s report, which came after Reynolds had sparked speculation about his role by posting an Avengers logo covered in Deadpool graffiti on Instagram.
However, Deadline later reported, citing sources, “[Reynolds] isn’t set to appear in the next two Avengers movies.” Sources indicated Reynolds’ Instagram post referenced a similar Deadpool-flagged Avengers logo seen in Deadpool & Wolverine. But Deadline reported that the new red version was seemingly fan-made, and Reynolds just posted it.
However, @MyTimeToShineHello responded to Deadline’s claim with the above X post. Hours later, after FandomWire posted on social media that Deadpool would not appear, the scooper countered, “Nah he’s 100% in.”
Hence, confusion around Deadpool’s appearance still stands. But if rumors are to be believed, he should have a role to play in Avengers: Doomsday. Besides him, actors confirmed for the movie include Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards. Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie returns as Captain America, Sebastian Stan appears as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright portrays Shuri, and Paul Rudd reprises Ant-Man.
Other confirmed names include Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. Returning Fox-era X-Men actors include Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
The film will release on December 18, 2026.
