Jessie J Hospitalized For Infection Amid Breast Cancer Surgery

Pop star Jessie J has opened up about a recent health scare that led to her unexpected return to the hospital. Just weeks after undergoing surgery for early-stage breast cancer, the “Bang Bang” singer found herself back in a familiar hospital ward — this time, it was about a potential lung-related complication.

Why was Jessie J hospitalized?

On August 2, Jessie J took to Instagram Stories to update fans about her condition. She spoke about how she was hospitalized again, six weeks after her breast cancer surgery, due to symptoms resembling a blood clot in her lung.

“6 weeks post surgery and I was back in the same ward I was after my surgery. Not expected or planned,” she wrote, sharing a photo of an IV in her arm. After several tests, doctors ruled out a blood clot. Instead, they discovered an unspecified infection and a small amount of fluid in her lungs. (via E! News)

“Finding it hard to breathe in,” Jessie explained, adding that she discharged herself to continue recovery at home as an outpatient. “I hate being in hospital,” she admitted. Further tests are ongoing to pinpoint the exact nature of the infection.

This health scare comes on the heels of her health battle with breast cancer. Jessie J first shared her diagnosis earlier this year and recently underwent surgery to remove the cancer. While she received positive news post-surgery, she has remained honest about the intense physical and mental challenges she continues to face.

“The recovery physically is far from quick or easy. And mentally it’s been the most challenging time for me,” Jessie said, especially pointing to the struggles of parenting a toddler while healing. She also acknowledged the emotional toll of pausing her music career. “Having to change the plans for my career for this year has been frustrating,” she wrote.

Despite the difficulties, Jessie remains determined to heal and listen to her body. “I love moving and working and being up and active but I can’t be right now,” she shared, adding that she is learning to adjust to a slower pace with the help of her inner circle.
