Jamie Lee Curtis Calls Out Plastic Surgery Industry

Jamie Lee Curtis has slammed the plastic surgery industry. In a candid new interview, the actress didn’t hold back, calling the rise of cosmetic procedures a “genocide of a generation of women.” She’s accused of causing widespread harm to women’s self-image.

Jamie Lee Curtis has taken a firm and controversial stance on the growing obsession with plastic surgery. In a new interview and photoshoot with The Guardian, she held a pair of oversized, cartoonish red plastic lips, a prop she called a “statement against plastic surgery.”

Speaking to the outlet, Curtis explained that the wax lips were meant to emphasize the harm caused by cosmetic procedures. She said, “I’ve been very vocal about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who’ve disfigured themselves.”

When questioned about her use of the word “genocide,” Curtis stood by it. “I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance],” she said. The actress added, “The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers — there’s a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances.”

The Freaky Friday star also blamed artificial intelligence and digital face filters for escalating the problem. She criticized the influence of facial filters, noting how they push people further toward artificial standards. She said, “The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it’s hard not to go: ‘Oh, well that looks better.’”

While she didn’t name specific public figures, Curtis added that the pressure is amplified by them. She said, “And there are too many examples. I will not name them, but very recently, we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people.”
