Chuck Mangione, the Grammy-winning jazz musician and composer, died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 84.

His family confirmed in a statement that he passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Rochester, New York. The announcement was shared with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle and later confirmed by a spokesperson to People Magazine.

A message posted on Mangione’s official website reads, “We are very sorry. Chuck Mangione has passed.” His attorney, Peter S. Matorin, also confirmed his death. Mangione had been retired since 2015 and died in his hometown, where he was born on November 29, 1940.

Mangione released over 30 albums across his decades-long career. He won two Grammy Awards, first in 1977 for Bellavia and again in 1979 for The Children of Sanchez. His best-known work, Feels So Good, reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. He described the song’s success as a turning point, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2008, “That song just topped out there and took it to a whole other level.”

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1963 and directed its jazz ensemble from 1968 to 1972. He performed Give It All You Got at the 1980 Winter Olympics closing ceremony after the games commissioned the song.

In 2009, Mangione donated his felt hat, sheet music, and other memorabilia to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. He voiced himself in the animated series King of the Hill and entered the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
