Lola Tung remembers a fan incident in new interview
The 22-year-old actress recently sat down for a conversation, where she spoke about many things, including this one incident where she felt her personal boundaries were breached.
Lola Tung revealed to Elle that she stays away from social media for her well-being. “You just can’t really engage [with the comments], because then it feeds the fire a little bit. It sucks. Because people can be mean when they’re behind their screens, which, I’m not saying anything new,” she said. However, that does not mean her stardom does not bleed into the real world.
Tung recalled one incident when a fan approached her in public and asked to take a photograph when she was not really up to it. She made her feelings clear about this, but the fan was adamant. “I was like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ I hate saying that, because then you feel guilty. And then he was like, ‘Well, I already have the camera out.’ I remember feeling a little like, ‘Oh, man,’ like a boundary was broken,” Tung recalled.
Moreover, Lola Tung emphasized that while she understood that the fan’s move came from a place of enthusiasm, from her perspective, this did not feel very good. “I always appreciate when people are super respectful, and just understand human-being boundaries. It can be such a lovely thing, and [I’ve had] such lovely conversations, and some people really stick with you, and it makes you so happy,” she added.
Meanwhile, the third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is now dropping new episodes on Amazon Prime Video every week.
