Justin Timberlake Faces Backlash After Romania Concert

Grammy winner Justin Timberlake faced backlash after a concert performance in Romania last week left fans disappointed. The former *NSYNC star received mixed reviews from audience members who had waited in the rain for his show.

Here’s why Justin Timberlake is facing backlash

Video footage of Justin Timberlake briefly singing before encouraging the crowd to take over the vocals for most of his performance at Romania’s Electric Castle music festival on July 17 has taken over the internet. Fans expressed frustration on social media, with many calling his minimal effort unprofessional, given their lengthy wait in poor weather conditions.

One fan who claimed to have attended the show posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “It’s raining like sh–, I have been waiting for you all day to come up on stage, you were late first of all, then you sing like five words on each song…singing like less than quarter of a song.”

The fan also noted on Timberlake’s appearance, claiming he was wearing a hat, which means fans could not even see his face properly while he performed on stage. Others evaluated the performance, wondering if he was feeling alright and maybe could not sing due to his current condition.

A Redditor opined, “He was so off-key, which is unusual for him. My charitable thought is he might be sick and tried to power through the show?” A third fan posted, “At this point of the world tour he is [definitely] burnt out.”

For the unversed, Timberlake has also been performing for his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which started on April 29, 2024, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. The tour celebrated the singer’s sixth album, Everything I Thought It Was.

The global tour was very special for fans as the Primetime Emmy-winning artist returned to live concerts after over five years. The ongoing tour spanned North America, Europe, and South America, with over 70 scheduled shows across multiple venues and festival appearances worldwide.

Timberlake’s ongoing concert tour has also received impressive reviews from critics. The Hollywood Reporter claimed the “Prince of Pop” is back, gushing, “At his triumphant tour stop…Justin Timberlake led a revival for the reigning Prince of Pop, with a setlist of greatest hits and new material that proves the Grammy-winning entertainer is here to stay.”
