Jenna Ortega Says She Feels Her Name ‘Doesn’t Belong’ to Her

Jenna Ortega, widely recognized for her role in Wednesday and several other movies and TV shows, recently spoke about her public image. In a candid new interview, the actress admitted that being in the spotlight has left her feeling misunderstood. She also offered a glimpse into the challenges she faces and the assumptions that often come with the spotlight.

Jenna Ortega talks about how she feels in Hollywood

Ortega has opened up about how her public image differs greatly from who she is in real life in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The Wednesday star revealed that she often feels “incredibly misunderstood” by the public and within the Hollywood industry.

When asked whether she feels accurately represented by her public persona, Ortega didn’t hesitate to say, “Not at all.” She explained that the disconnect between her real identity and how she is seen publicly has become so strong that she no longer feels connected to her own name. Ortega said, “It’s almost to a point where it feels like your name doesn’t belong to you. I almost don’t even resonate with it anymore.”

The Miller’s Girl actress added that one of the most difficult aspects of her work is dealing with the constant assumptions people make about her. She said, “I hate assumptions, and a big part of this job is that people are going to make assumptions about you.”

Ortega admitted that being approached by fans in public often makes her uncomfortable. She said, “Somebody shouting your name in public is insane. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable when it’s grown men approaching me.” She also revealed that she’s occasionally the target of disturbing verbal abuse.

Despite these challenges, Ortega’s popularity continues to rise. Netflix recently confirmed that Wednesday will return for a third season. The show’s second season will be released in two parts, premiering on August 6 and September 3, respectively.
