Jimmy Kimmel, Rachel Zegler, Adam Scott, and many more Hollywood A-listers have reacted to the shocking news of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show cancellation. Recently, the 61-year-old host revealed that his talk show will end in May 2026.

How celebrities are reacting to Stephen Colbert’s Late Show cancellation

Celebrities, including acclaimed musicians, actors, and award-winning talk show hosts, have reacted to the news of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert ending next year. After Colbert broke the news on Instagram, several celebrities paid tribute to the veteran TV star and the show.

Severance actor Adam Scott took to the comment section to bash CBS’s decision. He noted, “Love you Stephen. This is absolute bull—-, and I for one am looking forward to the next 10 months of shows.”

Snow White star Rachel Zegler also expressed support for Colbert by commenting, “i am extremely sad. i adore you, stephen.” Grammy-winning musician and Colbert’s colleague, Jon Batiste, gushed, “The greatest to ever do it.”

Fellow TV host Jimmy Kimmel also showed solidarity with Colbert. Kimmel posted an Instagram story commenting on The Late Show’s cancellation. The Emmy-winning TV star shared, “Love you Stephen. F— you and all your Sheldons CBS.”

Another Emmy winner, Ben Stiller, also took to X (formerly Twitter) to pay tribute to the show. He posted, “Sorry to hear CBS is canceling one of the best shows they have. Wishing all the people who work so hard on that show all the best.”

Previously, CBS explained that the decision to cancel the show “is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night [television]”. They also added that the cancellation does not reflect “the show’s performance, content, or other matters.” (via BBC News)

Colbert has also thanked CBS for being “great partners” in their decade-spanning collaboration. He also thanked his longtime viewers by saying, “I’m grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us every night in here, out there, all around the world.”

The Late Show started airing in 1993 with David Letterman as the main host. Colbert took over the show in 2015. The talk show has received a Peabody Award and garnered multiple Primetime Emmy nominations, including six nods for Outstanding Variety Talk Series.
