Adam Sandler commended NFL star Travis Kelce during recent promotional interviews for Happy Gilmore 2. Reflecting on their time working together, Sandler spoke warmly about Kelce’s personality and acting skills. Their connection has drawn significant attention, especially with Kelce’s cameo in Happy Gilmore 2.
Adam Sandler calls Travis Kelce ‘great human’
While promoting his upcoming Netflix film Happy Gilmore 2, Adam Sandler recently shared his admiration for Travis Kelce in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Sandler spoke warmly about the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who appears in the film and is currently dating Taylor Swift.
Describing Kelce as “a gentle, nice guy,” Sandler explained that the NFL star reminded him of his own childhood friends. The actor said, “Travis is such a gentle, nice guy. He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I’m with Travis, it reminds me of my buddies in high school, just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.” Sandler went on to describe Kelce as both “a great actor” and “a great human.”
Kelce has also previously reflected on the experience of working with Sandler. Speaking earlier this year on The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce called it a “dream come true” to join the cast of Happy Gilmore 2, which is set to release in 2025. He said, “Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”
The NFL star also added, “I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen.” Though his role is not a major one, Kelce noted he appears in “a few” scenes and that the filming process was demanding. He praised the cast and crew, saying they were “so professional and yet so fun to work with.”
Happy Gilmore 2 stars Adam Sandler alongside Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Dennis Dugan, Ben Stiller, Benny Safdie, and Bad Bunny. The film is currently in promotion ahead of its 2025 release.
