The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung recently shared a moment that had her fangirling, and it involved Taylor Swift. While promoting her show alongside co-stars Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, Tung recalled an unforgettable Eras Tour experience that nearly made her “pass out” from excitement.
Lola Tung recalls Taylor Swift’s sweet gesture because of which she ‘nearly passed out’
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on July 15, Lola Tung revealed that during the 2023 stop of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, she found herself right by the stage with The Summer I Turned Pretty co-creator Jenny Han. The actress lit up while recounting what happened when Swift noticed her and her friends. “She looked at us, and she kind of waved and was like, ‘I love you guys,’” Tung said, demonstrating the heart-hand gesture the pop icon directed at them. “I nearly passed out. It was great,” she added.
Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty will recognize the interconnectedness of this moment, not just for Tung as a Swiftie, but because Swift’s music has been part of the show since Season 1. As the actress said, “We were right by the stage when she played ‘False God,’ which was also on the show.”
When Fallon asked Tung to name her favorite Swift track that featured in the series, she admitted it was a tough choice. “‘The Way I Loved You’ is a great one. ‘Delicate’ is great as well,” she said. In an earlier interview with People, Tung expressed how much Swift’s music meant to her even before the show. “I used to listen to Fearless, Speak Now, and Red on my CD player when I was younger. When I would go to sleep, I would listen to them,” she stated.
With the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty premiering July 16 on Prime Video, fans can expect more Taylor Swift tracks to be part of the story. The trailer alone features “Daylight” from Lover and a title track from Red.
