Sydney Sweeney is being considered for the role of the next James Bond girl, according to a recent report. The source also suggested that she is at the top of the list of actresses being considered for the same.
Sydney Sweeney may become the next Bond girl
An insider suggests that Sydney Sweeney is the top contender for the role of the next James Bond girl. This report comes from The Sun. They cited the 27-year-old’s friendship with director Denis Villeneuve and the latter’s eagerness to cast her as reasons for her being the “top name on the casting sheet.”
Moreover, the outlet mentioned that the actress had the support of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, who held the creative rights of the series. Notably, Sweeney was one of the high-profile guests at Bezos’ wedding to Lauren Sánchez late last month.
An insider told the outlet, “Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond.” They further added, “Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise.”
The source also noted that the Euphoria actress and the Dune filmmaker “hung out” frequently. Moreover, the latter admired the former’s “stratospheric rise.” They emphasized Sweeney’s athleticism and femininity as notable reasons for her being considered for the role.
As for the leading man himself, James Bond, Variety suggests that Amazon is eyeing a British actor under 30, with Spider-Man star Tom Holland, Sweeney’s Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi, and Babygirl’s Harris Dickinson being their top picks. Before this report surfaced, names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and Idris Elba were thrown in the mix.
The upcoming film currently has no release date. However, online reports suggest that it could drop sometime in 2028. James Bond was last played by Daniel Craig in 2021’s No Time to Die. In the movie, Léa Seydoux portrayed the Bond girl, Dr. Madeleine Swann.
