While promoting The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pedro Pascal revealed how one of his co-stars played a crucial part in his casting as Reed Richards. Speaking candidly during the event, Pascal credited Vanessa Kirby for supporting him during the early days of filming.

Pedro Pascal recently opened up about how his Fantastic Four co-star Vanessa Kirby played a significant role in helping him with his role in the upcoming Marvel film. He explained that she supported him while he was preparing for the part. In a clip that’s been making rounds online, Pascal credited Kirby with helping him feel confident. He said she was especially helpful during the early days of joining the project.
Looking directly at Kirby, Pascal said, “I would say one of the big reasons that I got the job would be you.” He explained that out of the four leads, he was the last to be cast. Once the group was finalized, Kirby immediately began reaching out to connect. She took the initiative to start building their bond as co-stars. She also focused on developing their connection as two characters navigating marriage and parenthood in the film.
Pascal said, “She and I were communicating, and she started to lead the way immediately in terms of, one, getting to know each other. Two, starting to, you know, look at these characters and to treat with a lot of love. Our characters in a marriage, becoming parents.”
Pascal admitted he was anxious about stepping into such a high-profile role, describing himself as avoidant when nervous. However, Kirby helped guide him into the process. He explained, “I was really, really nervous. If I get nervous, I become really avoidant. She took my hand and made me step into this dream role, so that we can put our whole selves into it.”
The Fantastic Four cast officially kicked off their international press tour for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. They started the tour with a photocall in Paris. The promotional event took place at the Espace Niemeyer building on July 7.
