Scarlett Johansson Recounts Not Liking Her Voice During Adolescence

Following the success of Jurassic World Rebirth, actress Scarlett Johansson recently shared her thoughts on her voice during adolescence in an interview. Her voice has changed considerably over the years, ever since she launched her acting career in the mid-90s.

Scarlett Johansson reveals how her voice posed a difficulty during her adolescence

In a recent appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, co-host Yoo Jae-suk enquired about the Marriage Story actress’ career as a child artist. He reminded the latter about something she often heard during her auditions.

To this, Scarlett Johansson replied, “There was something I heard a lot. People would ask, ‘Are you sick?’ because of my husky voice.”

Johansson explained that when she was younger her voice sounded “rougher” than how it was currently. She shared that there were points in her adolescence where she wasn’t fond of her voice. The 40-year-old made it clear that her voice now became her “strength.” To this, co-host Jo Se-ho asked her if she had a message for her younger self “who disliked her voice.”

The Black Widow star turned towards the camera and replied, “You might think you have a strange husky voice.” She continued, “Thanks to that voice, you’ll win an award at the Rome Film Festival. There’s nothing to worry about.”

Jurassic World Rebirth is currently playing in theaters across the United States. The film currently holds a 52% rotten score and 72% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the film, Johansson essays Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert who is hired to lead a team of skilled experts on a mission to recover genetic material from the world’s three largest dinosaurs.

Unfortunately, Bennett’s mission becomes complicated after she and her team find themselves stranded on an island with a family who had embarked on a boating expedition. The group soon discovers a sinister secret that had been tucked away from the world’s purview for years.

Apart from Scarlett Johansson, the film also features Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend, among others.
