Kelly Clarkson Was ‘Devastated’ & ‘Didn’t Want’ to Cancel Her Las Vegas Show — Report

Kelly Clarkson surprised fans on July 4 when she abruptly canceled the opening show of her Las Vegas residency. The decision was announced shortly before showtime. The unexpected cancellation left many wondering what had gone wrong.

Here are all the details.

Kelly Clarkson ‘felt terrible’ after canceling Las Vegas show

Kelly Clarkson called off the opening night show of her Las Vegas residency on July 4, with sources saying the move was made to avoid risking serious damage to her vocal cords. The cancellation, which came moments before she was scheduled to perform, shocked fans who had gathered at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. But sources say the decision was driven by health concerns.

The 43-year-old artist had been preparing intensely for her Studio Sessions residency, with 18 shows planned till November 15. However, after days of rehearsals, her voice began to show signs of strain. According to a PEOPLE source, Clarkson was “devastated” and “felt terrible” about calling off the shows, especially knowing fans had traveled long distances to see her.

Clarkson addressed the cancellation in an Instagram post, writing that the preparation and rehearsals had taken a toll on her voice. She told fans she would be taking time to rest before returning to the stage. She wrote, “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all. The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong.”

According to a report from Page Six, Clarkson’s vocal issues are not new. A Vegas insider shared that she sings at full force in every performance, which puts constant pressure on her voice. “She’s an incredibly powerful singer, but it takes its toll on her vocal cords and she’s come incredibly close to needing surgery before,” the insider claimed. They also added, “She cannot risk damaging her cords further — she’s on thin ice.”
