Blake Lively is back in the spotlight as her legal battle with Justin Baldoni heats up. A newly revealed court filing confirms her upcoming deposition, marking a key moment in the high-profile case. With both stars set to testify, tensions are rising behind the scenes.
Here’s what the documents reveal, what the lawyers are saying, and what’s next in the lead-up to trial.
Blake Lively’s testimony expected soon as deposition date confirmed
Blake Lively will sit for a deposition on Thursday, July 17, 2025, as part of her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
Lively’s legal team disclosed the date in a court filing after serving subpoenas to two publicists connected to Baldoni. In an attached email dated July 2, the filing confirms, “…Lively’s deposition is set for July 17” (via People.)
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, told TMZ Live on June 10, “I’m gonna ask her questions under penalty of perjury, and she’s gonna have to provide evidence, and she’s gonna have to provide the truth of the stories. We have all of the video tape, all the footage. We have, you know, the text messages and we have emails. We’re gonna see how consistent her testimony is with the actual facts of what transpired.”
Lively, 37, has accused Baldoni, 41, her It Ends With Us director and co-star, of sexual harassment and retaliation, which he denies. Freedman issued a statement in May suggesting, “Since Ms. Lively is open to testifying, let’s make it count. Hold the deposition at MSG, sell tickets or stream it, and donate every dollar to organizations helping victims of domestic abuse.”
Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Baldoni’s counterclaims of extortion and defamation against Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. His legal team declined to refile the claims. The court has scheduled the trial for March 2026 in New York.
Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, previously said, “Of course she’s going to testify,” adding, “The ultimate moment for a plaintiff’s story to be told is at trial. We expect that to be the case here.”
Both sides have indicated their clients will testify during the proceedings.
