Walton Goggins Pays Tribute to Michael Madsen, Calls Him ‘Icon’

Emmy-nominated star Walton Goggins paid a heartfelt tribute to his The Hateful Eight co-star Michael Madsen, who died Thursday morning at 67. He shared photos of the late Hollywood veteran on social media, remembering the legendary actor who had delivered unforgettable performances in numerous films, including Quentin Tarantino’s directorials like Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill.

The White Lotus star has shared an emotional homage to his fellow actor and friend, who passed away on July 3.

Walton Goggins shared a carousel of pictures with The Hateful Eight cast on Instagram. He wrote in the caption, “Michael Madsen… this man… this artist… this poet… this rascal…F***ing ICON…. Aura like no one else.”

The Righteous Gemstones alum added, “Ain’t enough words so I’ll just say this…. I love you, buddy.” He also mentioned their The Hateful Eight legacy, noting, “A H8TER forever.” Meanwhile, fans commented on Goggins’ post, “He was the real deal.”

Madsen’s Reservoir Dogs co-star Harvey Keitel also remembered him. In a statement to the New York Post, the Oscar-nominated actor said, “We’ve lost another great American poet. Farewell, my dear friend.” Keitel added, “I’ll never forget one of the best scenes I’ve ever seen on film — of you and Chris Penn fighting in Reservoir Dogs.” Penn, another star of the 1992 film, passed away in 2006 at the age of 40.

Michael Madsen died at his home in Malibu, California. His manager, Ron Smith, has revealed that the Kill Bill star suffered a cardiac arrest, which led to his demise. Per ComingSoon, his team noted in a joint statement, “In the last two years, Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film, including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives.

Madsen’s team stated that the actor was “really looking forward to this next chapter in his life.” The Die Another Day star was also preparing to release a new book called Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, which is currently being edited. They concluded, “Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”
