Amid his wife, Blake Lively’s ongoing lawsuit, Ryan Reynolds recently achieved a major milestone by becoming an Officer of the Order of Canada. The actor was bestowed with the honor at the end of last year. He was appointed alongside other notable personalities like Maureen Ann Jennings and Randy Lennox. Outside of his acting work, Reynolds has been a major contributor to several Canadian charities. This includes Sick Kids Foundation and Water First Education.
Ryan Reynolds becomes Officer of the Order of Canada
The Deadpool & Wolverine star recently gave an interview, just before his investiture as Officer of the Order of Canada. The interviewer asked him what he would tell his and Blake Lively’s children about getting the honor.
“I don’t pretend that my kids can fully understand this,” Ryan Reynolds told CBC. He shared that Canada was “a culmination of a lifetime of meaning” for him. The 48-year-old actor also called his native “a third parent.”
Reynolds noted that his children would understand the honor later in life. Moreover, he recalled demanding them to call him “officer dad,” jokingly noting that they had “neglected in their duty,” to do so.
Moreover, the Free Guy actor humorously stated that the landmark event of his getting the Officer of the Order of Canada title was designed to “make mothers faint.” “And they’ve done that in spades with my mom,” he added.
Reynolds was then asked if his mother would be “on his mind” when he headed up to the stage. He acknowledged that several people in his life contributed to his being named as an Officer. Also in the interview, The Adam Project actor mentioned Capilano River in British Columbia as the place where he felt “most Canadian.” He stated that he had visited the place in his childhood, “almost every day after school.”
In another conversation with Time100, Ryan Reynolds addressed the impact of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle on his life. The drama brought a lot of attention to his business ventures.
However, the actor stressed that “accessibility and accountability” played a significant role in his work. “The people that I work with know me, so there’s never a question of anything like that,” he added.
