Read on to know what Kelce said.

‘Can Travis Kelce Read?’ trend explained

The phrase ‘Can Travis Kelce read?’ is making waves online following a surprising revelation by the NFL star about his struggles during his Saturday Night Live hosting stint in 2023. In a recent episode of the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end opened up about his behind-the-scenes experience at SNL, admitting that reading the script at the pre-show table read was the most difficult part of the process.

Kelce didn’t hold back, explaining that the writers’ room was fun and full of creative ideas. However, the formal script read-through was a major challenge for him. The tight end said, “The writers’ rooms were fun because you’re just getting pitched ideas. The table reading, for a guy that can’t really read that well, it was kind of a f**ked situation.”

Kelce admitted he wasn’t able to focus on acting or delivering lines with personality because he was just trying to avoid messing up. He said, “I felt like I was just trying to get through the reading instead of actually acting it out and giving it a voice and giving it a character and things like that.”

Despite the rough start, the Super Bowl champ said he felt much more at ease once the live sketches began. Hosting the March 4, 2023, episode of SNL with musical guest Kelsea Ballerini, Kelce said he was eventually able to enjoy “the comedy” and “the silly stuff,” while also taking the opportunity seriously.

The NFL star shared, “There was still a sense of like, ‘I need to be a professional here.’ I want to make them respect my approach and how I’m like taking it serious. But it was just a fun roller coaster, man.”
