While Brad Pitt was promoting his upcoming movie F1 overseas, his Los Angeles (L.A.) home became the target of a burglary. Thieves reportedly broke into the $5.5 million property, ransacked it, and escaped with stolen goods, all while Pitt walked the red carpet in London. The break-in adds to a troubling rise in celebrity home invasions across L.A.
Thieves ‘broke into’ Brad Pitt’s home and ‘fled with miscellaneous property’
While Brad Pitt walked the red carpet in London for the premiere of his new Formula 1 movie, his $5.5 million L.A. home was reportedly ransacked during a burglary. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed a break-in occurred late Wednesday night.
Officers responded to an alarm call around 10:30 p.m. at a house on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street. Upon arrival, they discovered that three suspects had broken into the residence through the front window. They ransacked the home and fled with miscellaneous property, according to Officer Drake Madison. (via AP News)
So far, the police have not publicly confirmed the homeowner’s identity. Also, there’s no official word on what exactly was taken. However, real estate records show that Pitt reportedly purchased the property for $5.5 million in April 2023. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The actor was nowhere near the property at the time of the break-in. Pitt was in London with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, attending the world premiere of F1. The much-anticipated racing film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick. The event also saw him reunite with Tom Cruise for the first time in over two decades.
In F1, Pitt plays veteran racer Sonny Hayes, returning to the track after a 30-year hiatus to save a failing fictional team. The film, which has been met with early praise, was shot at real F1 circuits with full cooperation from the sport – a level of access rarely granted.
