Here’s what Selena Gomez said about her first crush

Gomez and Karol G discussed their various favorites on the Wednesday, June 25, episode of GOAT Talk by Complex. Ice Cube’s name came up while they answered the last question of the interaction. Answering the question about who she thinks the GOAT raper is, Karol G named Eminem and Nicki Minaj. When her turn came, Gomez mentioned Eminem as well, adding that it was “only because I grew up listening to him.” She later mentioned that she had the “biggest crush” on Ice Cube.

“Can I tell you my first one I had a crush on? Ice Cube,” the Monte Carlo actor said, adding, “I had the biggest crush on him when I was, like, 5. It’s so weird, but I just thought he would protect me. I’m only saying it simply based on my childhood.”

Gomez also spoke about how her father influenced her interest in Eminem. “My dad was a DJ, and he would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song, I would just get so excited,” she recalled.

During the same interaction, Gomez and Karol G reflected on the question about the best artist they had collaborated with. They didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and decided to mention people they wanted to work with in the future instead. Gomez named Ariana Grande.

The pair also discussed the superstitions they have, the album they cry to, and their favorite actors. Responding to the last one, Gomez mentioned her Only Murders in the Building co-star Meryl Streep, who played Loretta Durkin in the show. As for Karol G, she said her favorite actor is Anya Taylor-Joy.
