Cardi B has cleared the air on her decision to include her older songs, “WAP” and “Up,” in her upcoming album, Am I the Drama? After fan speculation and online discussion, the rapper directly addressed the topic in a statement shared via X.
What did Cardi B say about adding WAP and Up in new album?
Cardi B has finally spoken out about fan questions regarding the inclusion of her earlier hit songs “WAP” and “Up” on her upcoming sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, set for release on Friday, September 19. In a candid post shared on X on June 25, the Grammy-winning rapper directly addressed the discourse.
Responding to the speculation about the tracklist, she said, “This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this.” She explained that the two singles have consistently been requested by her fans to be part of an album. “WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album,” she wrote. The rapper also noted that listeners often search for these songs on her debut album Invasion of Privacy and that they “deserve a home.”
Reflecting on past decisions, Cardi B admitted she once allowed criticism to influence her choices. She said, “I let haters make me not submit WAP for the Grammys and at this point I’m giving my fans what they want.” She also pushed back against claims that including “WAP” and “Up” was a tactic to increase sales. The rapper pointed out that the songs won’t contribute to her album’s first-week numbers.
Cardi B concluded with, “So what are y’all even crying about??? Do ya say anything when all these artist pull out all their little tricks and ponies to sell out??? Exactly….Now let them eat cake. Go cry about it!!!”
Fans quickly took to the comment section to share their excitement and appreciation for the rapper’s choice. Others expressed hope that she might also consider adding more of her earlier popular tracks to the upcoming album.
Cardi B also dropped the third official single, “Outside,” from the album on Friday, June 20. She had debuted the track just days earlier at the Spotify event during the Cannes Lions Festival.
