How Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are ‘linked souls’
In a new Vanity Fair interview, Pedro Pascal reflected on an emotionally charged day of filming with Bella Ramsey during the production of The Last of Us. While watching a scene from the show, Pascal admitted, “I don’t wanna see it!” but quickly followed up with, “I could talk about it.”
Pascal described the particular scene as one of the “hardest and easiest days” of his acting career. In it, Joel finally confronts the truth that he can’t lie to Ellie anymore, even if it risks losing her forever. The vulnerability of the moment, he explained, made it incredibly intense for both actors.
“This was towards the end of like all my shooting for The Last of Us,” Pascal recalled. “Bella and I… it was just really f*****g intense.” He praised director Neil Druckmann for creating a space that allowed them to fully live in the emotional weight of the scene.
“It was an easy day of shooting. We were beautifully taken care of by Neil Druckmann, who was directing the episode. Bella and I are like linked souls. And this was the ultimate manifestation of that as scene partners on this porch. And so we took such good care of each other and just kind of like lived in the pain of it the entire day,” he said.
Pascal continued, explaining that by the end of the shoot, he felt emotionally drained but spiritually fulfilled. “The idea of hurting them, the idea of losing them, those things just broke my heart,” Pascal explained.
Although Pascal admitted he hadn’t seen the final cut of that scene, the memory itself was vivid enough. Outside of The Last of Us, Pascal also briefly commented on his end scene from Game of Thrones and more.
Most recently, the actor appeared in Materialists, which premiered in theaters on June 13 alongside Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans.
