YouTube star Mikayla Raines has passed away at the age of 29. Her husband, Ethan, confirmed the tragic news of her death on Monday, June 23. Mikayla Raines was best known as the founder of the Save A Fox nonprofit and for her passionate advocacy work. Since 2017, she had amassed over 2 million subscribers on YouTube, where she documented her missions of rescuing foxes from fur farms.

Save A Fox’s Mikayla Raines has reportedly died by suicide. Her husband confirmed the news in a new YouTube video.
Raines was reportedly struggling with online harassment and cyberbullying. “She couldn’t bear what she was feeling any longer, and she ended her life,” Ethan shared. He added that Raines’ death was “the biggest loss of my life.”
The YouTube star’s husband further addressed the negativity that she had faced before her demise. “It breaks my heart that someone who is selfless and devoted her life to animals could have so much negativity pointed at her,” he said.
“And to those of you that pushed her to this, every one of you that had been responsible for making her feel this way, I wish you had to feel what she felt,” Ethan continued. “I wish you had to feel what I feel.”
He also said he had performed CPR on Raines for 15 minutes before the first responders arrived. Ethan added that he would continue his late wife’s mission, as he does not want to let her “mission fall apart.”
Speaking of his wife, Ethan gushed, “Mikayla was truly the most amazing and inspiring individual I have ever known, and not having her here makes everything feel empty. I feel broken.”
Additionally, fans are sharing their condolences for the YouTube star whose work touched a chord with millions. One fan shared on YouTube, “Mikayla inspired me to become a wildlife rescuer and carer in Australia. I have saved thousands of animals, helped educate new carers and the public, and helped coordinate supply drops during bushfires. Her life impacted so many people.”
Another wrote, “This is by far the worst YouTuber death I have ever experienced and likely ever will experience. I can’t comprehend how something like this could happen; she had so much love, admiration, and respect from millions all over the world.”
