Justin Baldoni Won’t Refile Claims Against Blake Lively — Report

Justin Baldoni has reportedly shifted focus after a judge dismissed his legal claims against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. The It Ends with Us actor and director chose not to amend the lawsuit and is now exploring new legal options while maintaining his position on the case.

Here’s what Baldoni’s legal team said about the dropped claims and their next steps.

Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively lawsuit update

Justin Baldoni is not submitting amended claims against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds following the dismissal of his $400 million countersuit.

On June 9, 2025, Judge Lewis J. Liman granted motions to dismiss Baldoni’s claims, which included allegations of extortion and defamation. The court gave Baldoni until June 23 to amend his claims. His legal team chose not to proceed.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, confirmed, “Instead of revising the existing claims, our clients will be pursuing additional legal options that are available to us.” Freedman added, “Discovery is proceeding and we are confident that we will prevail against these factually baseless accusations.” He stated the court’s decision “does not in any way affect our vigorous defense against Ms. Lively’s claims.”

The initial lawsuit stemmed from a legal conflict over the film It Ends with Us. In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a complaint accusing Baldoni of misconduct and a retaliatory smear campaign. Baldoni’s countersuit followed in early 2025, along with a separate $250 million libel case against The New York Times for its coverage. Both suits were dismissed.

Freedman told TMZ Live that Baldoni “wants to be vindicated” and is “waiting for his day in court.” He claimed Baldoni’s team would continue efforts to disprove accusations of harassment and defamation.

A spokesperson for Lively stated, “The Court dismissed the frivolous $400 million Baldoni-Wayfarer lawsuit in its entirety… The Court’s dismissal of Baldoni’s sham lawsuit was a total victory after all” (via People.)

Separately, Judge Liman denied Lively’s motion for a protective order regarding her communications with Taylor Swift, which Baldoni’s team now considers relevant to the case. The trial is set for March 2026.
