Pedro Pascal Addresses J.K. Rowling Criticism & Says He Wants to ‘Protect’ People He Loves

Weeks after Pedro Pascal lashed out at J.K. Rowling for her anti-trans opinions, he has come out to reflect on the topic during a recent interview. The veteran actor, who will soon make his MCU debut with the much-awaited The Fantastic Four: First Steps, shed light on the current dynamics regarding transgender people, before noting his views on the same.

So, here’s everything fans need to know about Pascal’s recent comments about Rowling in his interview.

While speaking about a plethora of subjects, the Materialists actor also addressed his criticism of J.K. Rowling after she released an X (formerly Twitter) post to support the UK Supreme Court redefining the term ‘woman’ in the Equality Act.

Relaying the backlash he faced after voicing his concerns against the Harry Potter author’s statements, Pedro Pascal told with Vanity Fair that he felt like “that kid that got sent to the principal’s office a lot for behavioral issues in public schools in Texas, feeling scared and thinking, What’d I do?”

Pascal then diverted his attention to the larger story and highlighted his views about the hostility that trans people face around the globe. “The one thing that I would say I agonized over a little bit was just, ‘Am I helping? Am I f—–g helping?’ It’s a situation that deserves the utmost elegance so that something can actually happen, and people will actually be protected. Listen, I want to protect the people I love. But it goes beyond that. Bullies make me f—–g sick,” he noted.

The 50-year-old actor has always been a major advocate for the rights of the transgender community. He especially increased his efforts for the cause ever since his sister, Lux Pascal, came out to the public in 2021. Pascal famously donned a ‘Protect the Dolls’ shirt at the London premiere of Thunderbolts* back in April 2025, to bring further attention to the problems faced by transgender people.

On the professional front, Pedro Pascal is busy promoting his recently released feature, Materialists. Additionally, he will headline the forthcoming Fantastic Four movie as Reed Richards, which hits theaters on July 25, 2025.
