Lizzo Makes Ozempic Confession Amid Weight Loss Journey

Singer Lizzo recently opened up about her weight loss journey, revealing that she briefly “tried” the diabetes-turned-weight-loss drug Ozempic before finding a more sustainable approach.

Lizzo reveals she tried Ozempic during weight loss journey

Lizzo opened up about her experience with weight loss medications, including Ozempic, in a conversation on the Just Trish podcast. Speaking with host Trisha Paytas on the June 19 episode, the Grammy-winning artist shared that she experimented with GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic but ultimately found success through dietary changes rather than prescriptions.

“I tried everything,” Lizzo admitted, referring to her early attempts to manage her weight. While she confirmed using Ozempic, which is a drug originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes and now widely used for weight loss, she also revealed that she stopped taking it early in her journey.

“Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah?” she explained. “So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”

Lizzo shared that her real breakthrough came not from medication but from a shift in her diet, specifically, quitting veganism. The “Good as Hell” singer revealed that her former vegan diet included too many processed substitutes and not enough satisfying, whole foods.

“When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice, and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full,” she said. She began to see noticeable progress after reintroducing animal protein.

“When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there,” she explained. The shift helped her feel more satisfied and energized, without relying on artificial fillers or excess carbs.

Despite her personal choice to stop using Ozempic, she made it clear that she doesn’t judge others who choose to stick with it. Lizzo called out the stigma some people face for using medical support to lose weight.
