Dakota Johnson didn’t hold back when asked about the current state of Hollywood during her recent appearance on Hot Ones. Host Sean Evans asked Johnson why she thinks Hollywood has become so cautious and “risk-averse.” To this, she opened up about what she sees as a new trend in the entertainment industry.
Johnson shared that many decisions are now made by people with little understanding of filmmaking. She said, “I think it’s hard when creative decisions are made by committee, and it’s hard when creative decisions are made by people who don’t even really watch movies or know anything about them, and that tends to be what’s occurring a lot.”
The Fifty Shades star also admitted that studios tend to stick with formulas that have worked before. She said, “When something does well, studios want to keep that going so they remake the same things, but humans don’t want that.” But in her view, the audience wants originality, new stories, and unfamiliar experiences. She concluded with, “I guess it’s all just a bit of a mess right now, isn’t it?”
In addition to her professional endeavors, Johnson has also made headlines recently for personal reasons. She has reportedly ended her long-term relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The pair, who had been in an on-again, off-again relationship since 2017, are said to have broken up over disagreements about marriage and family planning.
A source told Page Six, “She was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding.” The insider also revealed that Johnson and Martin had conflicting views about having children. Reportedly, Martin doesn’t want any more kids. As of now, neither Johnson nor Martin has publicly confirmed the split.
