Sabrina Carpenter talks about Olivia Rodrigo ‘Driver’s License’ drama

Sabrina Carpenter is candid about her past drama with Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett that allegedly made way for some of the viral pop hits of the year. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter talked about her song “Skin,” which fans interpreted as an answer to Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License.”

The “Manchild” crooner gushed, “I didn’t really intentionally do that.” She added, “All I knew was that it wasn’t going to stop me from doing what I loved, ever. That’s kind of how I’ve always felt. Sometimes, it’s about how you are able to be resilient.”

This was when Carpenter allegedly got “homewrecker” allegations from internet trolls and addressed them in her song “Because I Liked a Boy.” She recalled the more chaotic time of her life, noting, “What that era taught me was to just trust myself.”

The singer added, “And trust that everything is going to work out the way it’s supposed to, and trust that relationships are put into your life for a reason. You might not see that in the moment, but you see it later.”

When asked if Carpenter had reflected about this time of her life, she said, “I don’t think about it, ever.” The “Please Please Please” singer also joked about her “blonde” identity that found reference in her songs, quipping, “I’ve tried being brunette, and it didn’t look good on me, so this is what it is.”

In other news, fans are looking forward to the “Espresso” singer’s new era of music as she teased the release date of her upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend.
