Sarah Jessica Parker Shares Reason Behind Denying Fans’ Selfie Requests

Primetime Emmy-winning actress Sarah Jessica Parker shared why she does not accept fans’ selfie requests and prefers a “conversation” instead. The beloved star of Sex and the City recently explained her perspective during a candid interview on The Howard Stern Show, emphasizing that she values human connection over a quick photo.

Sarah Jessica Parker spills details on why she denies taking selfies with fans

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker opened up about her hesitancy towards fans’ selfie requests. The iconic Carrie Bradshaw of HBO Max’s And Just Like That… shared a recent incident when someone asked her for a picture at the airport.

She detailed at the Howard Stern show, “A woman came up to me, and she didn’t say hello; she just said, ‘Can I take your picture?’ And I said, ‘We didn’t even meet. You didn’t even introduce yourself. What’s your name?'”

Parker went on to explain that she suggested to the fan, named Julie, that she would rather have a talk with her. “I guarantee you it’s gonna be so much more meaningful,” she recalled her saying.

Stern interjected to Parker’s poised approach, adding, “It’s like you’re a schoolteacher teaching everyone how to behave. It’s f*****g annoying, yeah?” The Golden Globe Awards winner shared that personally she feels more “startled” or frightened when someone approaches for a picture with the camera already on her face.

The Family Stone actress added, “I much prefer to have a conversation—for someone to come up to me and say, ‘Maybe this isn’t your best time, my name is Veronica and I’m just here and I’m excited to see you.’ “

While it seems like Parker is more patient in dealing with selfie requests, the radio host Howard Stern offered his perspective, which had Parker in stitches. Stern confessed, “I say to people point blank, ‘Listen, genius, I’d love to take a picture with you if I was George Clooney.'”

Fans have mixed opinions about the Hocus Pocus star’s reasoning towards selfie requests. Some fans agreed with her opinions about preferring a conversation. A netizen commented under the YouTube video, “I appreciate what she said. I would rather have a conversation with someone I admire than a dumb picture.”

Another fan chimed in, “I understand where she’s coming from. I see both sides. It’s all about how you talk to the person and present yourself.”
