Dakota Johnson Debuts New Dog Tokyo After Reported Chris Martin Split

Dakota Johnson recently appeared on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast with a new dog named Tokyo. The actress introduced the puppy, which she recently adopted from a shelter. Here’s what she revealed about her new companion.

During her appearance on the June 10 episode of Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang, Dakota Johnson introduced her newly adopted dog, Tokyo. The 35-year-old actress explained that the rescue was entirely unplanned. Just days before the interview, she had adopted Tokyo from a shelter in Santa Barbara.

The actress explained, “We rescued her on Saturday from the Santa Barbara pound. I didn’t plan on it.” After losing her dog Zeppelin in December, Johnson expected to wait before adopting again. The actress added, “But then I saw her, and she’s an angel!”

Meanwhile, the puppy appeared comfortable during the interview, climbing into Johnson’s lap, sniffing the microphone, and even sipping water from her mug. Johnson, who seemed amused, commented, “She’s a performer. Honestly, she has come alive on camera. She normally hides in the back of her crate. She’s really timid. And now she’s like, here I am.” Looking at her dog Tokyo, she joked, “You’re an actress just like your mom!”

The conversation also turned playful when Poehler mentioned that dogs weren’t allowed in her office. Johnson quickly joked that dogs are welcome in her office before adding, “So if anyone who works for Amy wants to come to Tea Time, bring your dog. Bring your dog.”

The interview seems to have been recorded before Johnson’s recent breakup with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. As reported by PEOPLE earlier in June, the couple has gone their separate ways after nearly eight years together. Though neither has commented on the reports publicly, sources close to the pair described the split as “final.”
