Miley Cyrus Says She Helped End Family’s ‘Dark Decade’

Miley Cyrus recently delved into her family’s decade-long struggles and how they managed to reconcile, without therapy. The “Wrecking Ball” singer shared intimate details about repairing relationships with her parents and siblings after years of tension.

Miley Cyrus details how she solved her family drama

During a recent interview at Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, Miley Cyrus shared honest reflections on what she called a “dark decade” for the Cyrus family.

The singer didn’t shy away from describing how fractured things had gotten. “Half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point, and we cleaned all that up.” She admitted that reconnecting was a significant personal milestone this year.

But it wasn’t just her parents who were affected. Cyrus explained that the conflict extended across the entire family, including her five siblings. Instead of traditional counseling, the singer opted for a more organic approach.

She said that rather than dredge up years of pain all at once, she began by simply enjoying time with her family again. “I’m here. You’re here. Let’s start by having a good time together,” she said. This joyful foundation, she explained, helped create the emotional safety needed for deeper conversations later.

Furthermore, the family drama didn’t just stay private as it seeped into Miley Cyrus’ music. She shared that her upcoming album features a song called “Secrets,” which she wrote about her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. The track explores her desire to be a safe space for her father to share truths, even when they’re painful. As a middle child, she said she felt old enough to carry some of the emotional weight and wanted to be trusted with the truth.

Despite years of distance, Miley now feels more grounded in her family life. “Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,” she stated. “I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”
