It will be the 19th major release of Apple‘s iOS operating system and will succeed iOS 18. Apple introduces liquid glass feature and other updates in iOS 26
With the announcement of iOS 26, Apple has made its faith in a brighter and more translucent version of iPhones clear. At present, Apple developers have access to the developer beta. The public beta, on the other hand, will become available in July. Here’s a list of new updates and features that users can enjoy when iOS 26 becomes available in September or October of this year, alongside new iPhone 17 models.
New Liquid Glass design
With the introduction of iOS 26, iPhones will have a new transparent Liquid Glass design. This new look will also be available on WatchOS, TVOS, and iPadOS. This means that beyond the traditional light and dark modes, Apple products will have a clear mode in which icons will look like clear glass.
Minimal camera and photos apps
The current version of the camera app is already quite minimal, but the version in iOS 26 will have a further simplified interface.
An updated phone app
The phone app will also have a new version in the update. It will have a new interface as well as a unified layout that will be a better fit for the big screens of recent iPhone releases.
New lock screen
The lock screen is about to become more dynamic with iOS 26 and feature a glossy look and controls that can change and shift.
Services such as Messages, FaceTime, Safari, Music app, Games app, Maps, CarPlay, and Wallet will also be updated with iOS 26.
