The duo met for the first time at the Met Gala 2016 and instantly hit it off. Before their breakup in September of the same year, the couple had been spotted spending time at the “Gorgeous” crooner’s Rhode Island mansion and also in London.
Some reports even claimed that Swift introduced the Marvel star to her parents at a Nashville dinner. Later, T-Swizzle met Hiddleston’s mother in London. Sources close to the couple had told PEOPLE that Hiddleston’s mother “thinks Taylor is the loveliest” and was “happy to meet her.” The insider further added, “Taylor was almost immediately part of the family.”
Many believed that Hiddleston and Tay Tay had fallen in love with each other when The Night Manager actor sported an “I (heart) T.S.” tank top at Rhode Island’s Fourth of July holiday weekend.
However, Swift and Hiddleston reportedly had “an amicable split” in September 2016. After the breakup, Hiddleston even talked about the famous tank top he wore during the July weekend. The Golden Globe winning star told GQ, “I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ’Does anyone have a T-shirt?’ And one of her friends said, ’I’ve got this.’”
The friend had pulled out the “I (heart) T.S.” tank top, and Hiddleston remarked, “We all laughed about it. It was a joke.” While speaking of his thoughts on Swift, Hiddleston gushed, “She’s incredible.” The actor further added, “A relationship in the limelight takes work. And it’s not just the limelight. It’s everything else.”
Hiddleston explained that the constant public attention plays a part, as he had to be “psychologically strong about not letting other people’s interpretations about my life affect my life.”
Meanwhile, fans believe that Swift and Hiddleston’s romance has also found a place in the singer’s music catalogue. Swifties speculated that Tay Tay’s track “Cruel Summer” in the “Lover” album could be about the British actor.
