On June 1, 2025, Michael Flynn Jr., the son of far-right conspiracy theorist and retired Army lieutenant general Michael Flynn, shared a tweet on X (Twitter) featuring a photoshopped video of Nick Offerman’s Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson throwing a pride flag in the trash. In the original clip, Swanson had thrown his computer in the trash.
“Good morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about “pride” month,” Flynn Jr. captioned the post. The post has garnered over 2k likes.

Nick Offerman eventually reacted to the post two days later, calling out Michael Flynn Jr. for the homophobic tweet.
“Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb f—. #HappyPride,” Offerman wrote. This was a reference to Ron Swanson being the best man at Typhoon and Craig’s wedding in the Parks and Recreation series finale.
The Last of Us actor’s tweet garnered mixed reactions from other users. Some users praised Offerman’s response, while others reminded the actor to calm down as it was only a meme, or were downright insulting towards him.
“You’re such a king,” one fan wrote.
“HELL YEA HAPPY PRIDE,” another fan commented.
“My king, I love you,” yet another fan tweeted.
“You’re a dumb b— and your career died with Parks and Rec,” a fan added.
“Relax Ron Swanson, it’s a meme. Keep politics out of s—. I liked you in parks and Rec. don’t ruin it,” another fan tweeted.
Offerman, along with his wife, Megan Mullally, showed support for ending the exclusion of gay and lesbian couples from marriage. The couple participated in a hilarious video for the Americans for Marriage Equality campaign spearheaded by the Human Rights Campaign, which is the United States’ largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization.
