‘Taylor Swift & Blake Lively Fighting’ Trends Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Drama

Wondering why “Taylor Swift & Blake Lively fighting” is trending online? After legal drama involving Justin Baldoni and dropped subpoenas, reports suggest a fallout between the longtime friends. With fans speculating and insider details emerging, questions about their friendship continue to grow.

Here’s what we know about the reported rift, legal tensions, and what led to the silence between Swift and Lively.

‘Taylor Swift & Blake Lively fighting’ trend explained

The trend started after reports revealed that Taylor Swift and Blake Lively stopped speaking.

Insiders told Us Weekly that the friends have had “radio silence” since May 22, 2025, when Swift’s subpoena was dropped in Lively’s legal battle with director Justin Baldoni.

The tension began with Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, a hostile work environment, and defamation. Baldoni denied the claims and countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million. Swift became involved briefly when Baldoni’s legal team subpoenaed her over the use of her song “My Tears Ricochet” in It Ends With Us.

According to Swift’s representative, the singer had no involvement in the film beyond allowing one song. “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song,” the rep said. Baldoni’s team had accused Lively of pressuring Swift to delete texts, which Swift’s side denied, calling the subpoena a move to “draw public interest” using her name for “tabloid clickbait.”

A judge struck the claim about Swift’s texts, ruling in Lively’s favor. Despite this, sources told PEOPLE and the Daily Mail that Swift felt exploited and believed Lively used their friendship for legal gain. A US Weekly source said, “They won’t pick up where they left off because of all the emotional residue.”

Swift reportedly felt pressured to “tone Blake down” within their friend circle and felt pushed too far. The situation is further complicated by Swift being godmother to Lively’s daughters. Though neither party has commented publicly, the rift has fueled speculation across social media.

Swift’s team voluntarily provided information to Baldoni’s lawyers, which led to the subpoena being dropped. “When information is voluntarily received, there is no need for subpoenas,” an insider said.
