Russell Brand appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday. There, he pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. The comedian, dressed casually in a black blazer and dark jeans, appeared along with his lawyer, Oliver Schneider-Sikorsky.

When the charges were formally read, Brand stood and firmly denied all five counts, which include rape and multiple sexual assault accusations. The judge agreed to maintain Brand’s conditional bail while awaiting trial. After the hearing, Brand acknowledged court staff with a brief thanks before leaving.

The allegations against Brand involve four women and relate to incidents spanning from 1999 to 2005. Among the charges are claims that Brand indecently assaulted a woman in 2001 by forcibly pulling her toward a men’s restroom, and that in 2004, he touched another woman without her consent.

Police formally charged Brand on April 4 with rape, oral rape, indecent assault, and two sexual assault counts. These charges followed an investigation launched in September 2023 after The Sunday Times and Channel 4 published reports featuring allegations of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by four women. One accuser even stated she was 16 years old when she began a relationship with Brand.

Brand has consistently denied any non-consensual behavior since these allegations surfaced two years ago. Previously, in 2025, the comedian posted a statement on social media saying, “I have never engaged in non-consensual activity. I am now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”

The trial is scheduled for June 3, 2026. Meanwhile, a pre-trial hearing is expected in May of next year.
