Brad Pitt recently revisited his divorce from Angelina Jolie, more than eight years after their split. The actor had remained quiet throughout much of the legal proceedings. However, he recently addressed the outcome in a new interview. His remarks come months after he and Jolie reached a legal resolution.
Brad Pitt breaks silence about Angelina Jolie divorce
Brad Pitt has finally broken his silence on the divorce from Angelina Jolie, over eight years after their separation began. The two reached a legal settlement in December 2024, nearly a decade after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
Speaking to GQ, Pitt responded candidly when asked whether he felt any “relief” from the long legal battle. The actor said, “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
After years of court proceedings, Jolie’s legal team confirmed she had permanently waived any claim to spousal support. Her attorney shared, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.” The statement further described that Jolie is “exhausted” but relieved that this chapter is closed. Jolie’s decision to file came shortly after a private flight where she later alleged Pitt had been abusive towards her and their children. Although no charges were filed and Jolie opted not to pursue legal action, the incident marked the beginning of a lengthy and complex divorce. The pair began their relationship in the mid-2000s and eventually married in 2014. They were legally declared single in 2019.
Despite the legal resolution, Pitt’s relationship with his six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, remains distant. Several are reportedly estranged from him and have even dropped his surname.
