Swift’s re-recorded version of “Look What You Made Me Do” debuted in a key sequence. The episode’s opening scene, which featured the song, prompted eagle-eyed Swifties to scour social media, analyzing whether the Grammy winner actually appeared on screen during the musical moment.

No, contrary to popular belief, Taylor Swift did not officially make a cameo in The Handmaid’s Tale. Initially, fans suspected that the tall figure who comes out of a truck in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Episode 9 and moves to the left without showing their face is none other than Taylor Swift. The scene also features Swift’s re-recorded version of “Look What You Made Me Do.”
A TikTok video compared Swift’s walk on the stage to the mysterious figure’s brisk walk out of the scene. The video featured a fan’s comment that read, “(The) last person out of the truck that goes to the left was 100% Taylor Swift.”
In the comment section of the video, many agreed with the fan’s observation. One wrote, “There are two celebrity walks I can identify with certainty. Ellen Pompeo and Taylor Swift. That. Is Taylor. No doubt.” However, a second fan disregarded the theory, claiming, “It is Rita,” who dresses identically in the next scene.
However, Elisabeth Moss, aka June of The Handmaid’s Tale, has shut down the theories. While speaking with TVLine, after the interviewer explained the fan theory, Moss said, “Of course it’s not. Of course, it’s not her. Oh my God, that’s hilarious. I love that idea, though.”
Moss definitely enjoyed the fans’ various interpretations of the powerful scene. She gushed, “But this is why, one of the reasons we were so excited about this moment, just the fan engagement on Handmaid’s is so intense, and then marrying that with the Swifties is like, Jesus Christ. It’s so fun!”
She assured fans that it was not Taylor Swift in the scene. The Emmy-winning actress stated, “No, I’m afraid that’s not Taylor. She’s pretty busy. I feel like if she was going to come do our show, we would’ve made sure we saw her face.”
