Hayley Atwell revealed in a recent interview that she was roughly nine months pregnant while filming a fight scene for her latest film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. In the film, Atwell plays Grace, an ally and teammate of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, who helps him on his mission to prevent the malicious AI Entity from destroying humanity.

Hayley Atwell recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Before Fallon showed audiences a clip of a fight scene featuring Atwell and her co-star Tom Cruise, he asked the 43-year-old actress if they needed to say anything to set the clip up. In response, Atwell revealed an interesting fact about shooting the scene.
“During this fight sequence, we came back to it a few times to add a few elements to it,” Atwell shared. “And in this clip, I’m actually eight and a half months pregnant,” she further revealed.
The Agent Carter actress surprised audiences with her answer. Fallon then questioned Atwell if she was serious, to which she replied, “I’m serious. Yes.”

Hayley Atwell then revealed that the crew took “good care” of her and that they were “supportive.” She then mentioned how the crew offered to have a stunt double do the scene out of concern, which she refused as she desired to perform it herself.
In the clip, Atwell’s Grace and Cruise’s Ethan Hunt can be seen fighting two men. Grace initially had the upper hand against the man she was fighting, only to be defeated and held at knifepoint.
After the clip was shown, Fallon quipped, “Eight and a half months? Are you kidding me?”
Atwell, who has kept her relationship with husband Ned Wolfgang Kelly private, gave birth to her first child in 2024.
