Finn Wolfhard shocks fans with buzz cut

Finn Wolfhard made a noticeable style change when he showed up at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo on May 25 with a freshly shaved buzz cut. Wolfhard turned heads on the red carpet, walking alongside his Stranger Things castmate and friend Gaten Matarazzo. Wolfhard’s look was paired with a shimmering black-and-white suit jacket, coordinating pants, and black boots. The two stars took the stage during the ceremony to present the award for Best Continuing Series.

The public appearance comes just ahead of the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things, expected to premiere later in 2025. Wolfhard, who has portrayed Mike Wheeler since the show’s debut in July 2016, recently spoke about wrapping up the series. In an April interview with PEOPLE, he admitted that finishing the final scenes felt overwhelming.

Wolfhard said, “I was so happy with my character’s ending. I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy.” The actor further added, “I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect.” He also added that the entire cast stayed for the final day of filming, calling it special to be surrounded by everyone for the show’s final moments.

Outside of Stranger Things, Wolfhard recently completed his first feature film as a director, Hell of a Summer. He is preparing to release his debut solo music project, Happy Birthday, this June.
