Kanye West has issued an apology on social media, claiming that he is distancing himself from antisemitism. On May 22, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a string of posts suggesting an unexpected shift in attitude. In the first post, he wrote, “I am done with antisemitism.”
He followed up with, “I love all people. God forgive me for the pain I’ve caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you God.” These remarks come after years of controversy tied to his antisemitic statements over the years.
According to Ye, the motivation behind his sudden change of heart came from a moment with his children. After receiving a FaceTime call from the four kids he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, Ye said he felt inspired to take a new direction. He wrote, “I simply got a FaceTime from my kids and I wanna save the world again. Share peace. Share love.”
Earlier this month, Ye attempted to release a song titled “Heil Hitler.” He claimed the track was immediately banned across all digital streaming platforms, accusing the music industry of a double standard. In response to the backlash surrounding that track, South Korea’s Coupang canceled Ye’s highly anticipated solo concert, originally set for May 31 at Incheon Munhak Stadium.
Per NBC News, Coupang issued a statement pointing to “recent controversy surrounding the singer” as the reason for calling off the event. While they didn’t name the song directly, the move came shortly after public backlash over the release of the “Heil Hitler” track.
