Tony Romo spoke about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship during an interview with US Weekly (through the former quarterback’s partnership with the lifestyle brand Skechers). He noted that the relationship is a “net positive” for Kelce, even if it came with a lot of media scrutiny.
“People won’t even realize this, but he’s probably doing less than he used to when he was younger,” Romo said. “If you get your picture taken going to dinner with your superstar girlfriend, it looks like you’re going out or something. No, he just went to dinner. Almost as if he’s married, going to dinner with his wife or something. He didn’t get photographed when he was going out with his buddies all the time,” he added.
Romo speculated that Kelce was likely going out fewer times with others than before. He stated, “It’s just the fact that if you’re written about a lot and it’s not about football, some people are always going to think that it plays a role. But the truth is that it can be a net positive if you look at it closely.”
Notably, Romo was a star quarterback who spent the entirety of his career in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. Since his retirement, he has become a CBS Sports analyst.
Reflecting on Kelce’s performance in a disappointing 2024 season, Romo underscored that this was the first season and off-season when the Kansas City Chiefs tight end truly had to deal with this level of attention. He voiced his belief that Kelce would learn from his experience and urged people to “trust” the other man.
