Michelle Williams Gets Emotional About Late Heath Ledger

Michelle Williams recently opened up about her late ex-partner Heath Ledger, calling him “special” and reflecting on the love and loss they shared. The conversation offered fans a rare and touching glimpse into the bond she still feels with the late actor, nearly two decades after his passing.

Armchair Expert podcast host Dax Shepard brought up Ledger during the interview, saying he felt a responsibility to acknowledge the actor. Williams agreed and said, “This is one of the most special boys I’ve ever met, and I can feel the weight of the world on him in a very special way that kind of broke my heart. I was very, very sad, and I thought he was just so special.”

Williams also recalled how quickly she had bonded with Ledger during his sobriety journey. She shared, “I feel obligated to say that I knew him a little bit when he was getting sober, and I don’t know that I’ve ever fallen in love with somebody so quickly.” (via ABC News)

Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger met on the Brokeback Mountain set in 2004 and began dating shortly after. They welcomed their daughter, Matilda, in 2005 before parting ways in 2007. Tragically, Ledger passed away in January 2008 from an accidental prescription drug overdose.

Furthermore, Williams expressed gratitude for their daughter, saying, “Thank God there’s Matilda.” She has previously spoken about how Ledger’s love and acceptance shaped her life, telling Vanity Fair in 2018, “Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.”

After Ledger passed away, actor Jeremy Strong went on to live with Williams to offer support to her and Matilda during the difficult time. She later praised Strong for his kindness, saying he helped her daughter heal through “play and games and silliness.” (via Variety)

Now, Williams has four children, including three with her husband, Thomas Kail.
