Taylor Swift premiered “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” in Season 6, Episode 9 of The Handmaid’s Tale, which aired on May 19, 2025.
The re-recorded track, originally from Swift’s 2017 Reputation album, plays during the episode’s opening scene as June Osborne leads a handmaids’ uprising. The updated version features re-created synths, a new vocal take, and a refreshed arrangement by Jack Antonoff.
This marks the first full release of a track from the yet-unannounced Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album. The sequence includes the first and second verses and two choruses of the song. Elisabeth Moss, the show’s star and executive producer, told Billboard, “There could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment.” She said she had long wanted to use a Taylor Swift song and praised the placement during the series’ final episodes.
Editor Wendy Hallam Martin explained the music synch: “When I laid the song up against the scene, it just landed perfectly thematically, rhythmically and magically hit all the edit points.” She added, “Taylor was really the artist that delivered both lyrically and tonally.”
