Jamie Lee Curtis Is Full of Regret for Having Plastic Surgery at 25

Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed regret about her decision to get plastic surgery when she was 25 years old. The Academy Award-winner underwent the procedure after a cinematographer criticized her appearance during the production of one of her movies in the ’80s.

Jamie Lee Curtis confesses being in regret for getting plastic surgery

Curtis said she regretted getting plastic surgery at 25 and explained the circumstances that led her to make the decision in the first place during a May 11 interview with 60 Minutes. The actress disclosed that during the filming of her 1985 feature, Perfect, a cinematographer made disparaging comments about her appearance, which led her to undergo the surgery.

“He was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy.’ And I was 25, so for him to say that, it was very embarrassing,” Curtis recalled. “So as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery,” she added.

However, the surgery didn’t go as planned, and Curtis stated that it was something she had regrets about even today. “That’s just not what you want to do when you’re 25 or 26. And I regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it since,” she explained.

Curtis noted that the regret she felt for the procedure had grown over time, especially since she was now known as an advocate of natural beauty.

The Knives Out actress also spoke about how much she had become dependent on painkillers after the surgery. “I became very enamored with the warm bath of an opiate,” The Halloween star elaborated. “You know, drank a little bit … never to access, never any big public demonstrations. I was very quiet, very private about it, but it became a dependency for sure,” she further stated.

Notably, Curtis has won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2023 for Everything Everywhere All at Once and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2024 for The Bear (Season 2 Episode 6).
