Lively and Hayek co-starred in the 2012 film Savages, while Reynolds worked with Hayek on The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) and its sequel (2021). Over the years, Hayek has maintained a close friendship with the couple, hosting dinners and participating in events like a 2016 girls’ night with Lively.
The group dinner occurred as Lively remains in an ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, 41. In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and countersued for $400 million, accusing Lively and Reynolds of defamation and extortion. Lively’s lawyers described Baldoni’s countersuit as “meritless” and “vengeful.”
The case is scheduled for trial in March 2026. As part of the legal proceedings, Baldoni’s attorneys subpoenaed Taylor Swift. On May 9, 2025, a spokesperson for Swift stated, “She never set foot on the set of this movie… She did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release.”
In court filings, one of Lively’s texts allegedly refers to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons.” In response, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman said, “She used her ‘dragons’ to manipulate Justin at every turn.” A source told PEOPLE that Hugh Jackman may also be subpoenaed in the near future.
