Blake Lively accused of threatening Taylor Swift
Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, alleged in a May 14, 2025 court filing that Blake Lively threatened Taylor Swift to publicly support her during the It Ends With Us legal battle. According to Freedman, a “reliable source” claimed Lively asked Swift to delete their text messages. He also alleged that Lively’s attorney, Michael Gottlieb, contacted Swift’s legal team and implied he would leak private messages if Swift refused to issue a statement.
Lively’s legal team denied the allegations. In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman, they called the claims “categorically false” and “recklessly leveled without any supporting evidence,” according to Today. They asked the court to strike Freedman’s letter from the record, calling it an attempt to “launder scandalous and defamatory allegations” into public view.
The claims surfaced after Baldoni’s team subpoenaed Swift, seeking evidence of alleged witness tampering. Swift’s spokesperson responded that the singer’s only connection to the film was licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” for the soundtrack. The statement emphasized that Swift never visited the set, gave creative input, or saw the movie before its release.
Her spokesperson further called the subpoena a publicity tactic meant to generate “tabloid clickbait.” The dispute began in December 2024 when Lively filed a sexual harassment and retaliation complaint against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. In January 2025, Baldoni filed a defamation suit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others.
The case is set to go to trial in March 2026. Both sides continue exchanging legal filings involving messages, emails, and media statements. Swift has not issued a direct response beyond her spokesperson’s remarks.
