Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike recently opened up about the time when she gave an audition for the Pierce Brosnan-led James Bond flick, Die Another Day. In an interview, Pike revealed that the casting crew asked her to undress and strip down to her underwear during the screen test for the film.
Rosamund reveals what happened during James Bond audition
During a recent interaction with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Rosamund Pike opened up about her awkward experience while auditioning for Die Another Day. “In the Bond audition, I was asked to unzip and drop the dress I was wearing, to just stand there in underwear,” Pike stated. “And I thought, ‘Well, no, I’ll be doing that if I get the part. I won’t be doing that now.’ I don’t know what possessed me,” she added.
Despite the demand, Pike went on to secure a significant part in the 20th James Bond movie, where she portrayed Miranda Frost. A Harvard graduate, as well as an Olympic fencer, Frost serves as an integral member of MI6 and teams up with Brosnan’s Bond to tackle a world-ending threat.
However, the climax of the film reveals that Pike’s character was actually double-crossing the British intelligence service. Frost ultimately meets her end at the hands of Halle Berry’s Jinx Johnson, the second Bond girl in the movie.
During an earlier appearance on the David Tennant Does a Podcast with talk show, Pike had noted how she mistakenly thought she’d waxed Brosnan’s chest while shooting an intimate scene.
“I was so mortified. I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s so brave, and I’m pulling off his chest hair with every embrace.’ And of course, it took a couple of takes to realize it was not him.” She continued, “It was the fake fur of the rugs adorning the swan bed. I literally thought I was waxing the poor man’s chest.”
